Prof. Juan F. Yepes
Juan F. Yepes, DDS, MD, MPH, MS, DrPH, is the Paul E. Starkey Endowed Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Associate Dean for Graduate Education at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. He also serves as an attending physician at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Yepes earned both his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees from Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia. In 1999, he moved to the United States, where he completed a fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the University of Iowa in 2002 and a residency in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 2004. He subsequently earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) in 2006 and a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) in 2011, both with an emphasis in Epidemiology, from the University of Kentucky College of Public Health. In 2008, he completed a residency in Dental Public Health at the Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry. He later completed both a residency in Pediatric Dentistry and a Master of Science (MS) degree at the University of Kentucky in 2012.
Dr. Yepes is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Board of Oral Medicine, and the American Board of Dental Public Health. He is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Oral Medicine, the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, the Indiana Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Dental Surgery). In addition, Dr. Yepes serves on the editorial board of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Oral Radiology and is an Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA).
